Broadoak Primary School

How will the school let me know if they have any concerns about my child’s learning in school?

If your child is identified as not making progress, the school, usually the class teacher in the first instance, will set up a meeting to discuss this with you in more detail and to:

  • Listen to any concerns you may have
  • Plan any additional support your child may need
  • Discuss with you any referrals to outside professionals to support your child

As a school, the following assessments may be used as an indicator that a child has an additional need:

  • Tracking within Early Years / Early Years profile
  • Reading age tests / spelling age tests
  • Reading Benchmark materials which provide a reading age
  • Phonic screener outcomes
  • Performance in optional Rising Stars tests
  • Strengths and Difficulties questionnaire to indicate a social, emotional or mental health need
  • LSS literacy and numeracy packs, Needs based profiles.
  • Teacher assessment using the pre key stage assessment.

We will always discuss any concerns with you at regular intervals and work in partnership with you to ensure the best outcomes for your child. We are fully committed to ensuring every child has the right opportunities in order to reach their full potential.
