School Meals
At Broadoak, we encourage children to enjoy a healthy school lunch and, in line with current government policy, all children in Reception and KS1 are entitled to a Universal Infant Free School Meal.
Due to Nursery being non statutory, Nursery children can enjoy a healthy lunch at the cost of £2.40 per day. This is collected in advance via our on-line payment system, ParentPay. The lunchtime session will be used as a social opportunity for our nursery children, developing basic skills in line with the Early Years curriculum.
Children in Years 3 -6 who choose a school lunch will also need to pay £2.40 per day. Again, a balance should be maintained via ParentPay.
Older children may also be entitled to a free school meal. Parents/ Carers need to apply for this via the local council - click here for further information.

Changes to Provision from Summer 2024
At Broadoak, we are committed to regularly reviewing all provision in school to ensure that the children receive the highest standard in all areas. One area of focus this term has been the in school catering provision. As a result of this review, we are excited to announce that, following the Whit half term break, we will be welcoming Dolce, an independent, specialist school meal provider, to Broadoak.
Dolce already work successfully across many schools and foster a commitment to home-cooked food made from seasonal, fresh and sustainable ingredients. They will provide a three weekly rotational menu that will be updated on a termly basis. They also provide a portal for parents that allows access to meal selection from home, allowing parents to be included in their child’s meal choices. Meal costs will see an increase of 10p to £2.50, however we are confident that this increase will reflect in the quality of meals on offer to the children.
Please see a copy of the summer menu below. Please note, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 lunch costs will remain to be free, under the Universal Infant Free School Meals funding programme. Nursery children will be introduced to a meal option for the first time.
Whilst we are excited to share with parents the update, we also appreciate that there is lots of further information required. Over the coming weeks, parents will be contacted regarding creating a login for the Dolce meal choice / payment APP. This platform also requires parents to input information regarding allergies etc.
In order to ensure a smooth transition, we would ask parents to view the weekly newsletter for updates and respond promptly to any actions required.
Dolce are committed to delivering a high standard of food to the school and are looking forward to inviting parents into school for ‘taster days’ in the Autumn Term.
